Wildlife Care and Alert Signs on Phillip Island

There is a lack of communication regarding the vulnerability of our wildlife on Phillip Island roads.

What signage there is, seems to be old, outdated and limited.

There seems to be no effort to convey to humans, particularly visitors, how we value our wildlife and would like everyone to value our wildlife.

We need to urgently explore the best way to do this. Suggestions – better signage, outlining wildlife that will be encountered on our roads (echidnas, wallabies, cape barren geese, purple hens …), indicate wildlife hotspots, wildlife crossings, rights of way for wildlife, what to do if you hit an animal ...

Please sign this petition to ask Bass Coast Shire Council to engage with the Phillip Island community to create a strategy and implement it for better communication on our roads with regard to protecting our wildlife.

Why is this important?

Phillip Island is a unique and special place.
