The Camel Rock has been hosting music events for many years. These are enjoyed a large number of Scarborough and surrounding residents, as well as music lovers from all over Cape Town.
They are wonderful family events and always end at a very reasonable time. They also serve as a form of communal bonding enjoyed by people of all ages. However these music events have been targeted now by a small bunch of individuals and consequently the music events have been stopped.
We, the undersigned, feel that the vast majority of Scarborough and surrounding residents would want these music events to continue. We therefore request that the City Council provide the necessary permission to allow these music events to continue at the Camel Rock.
Why is this important?
Closing a venue with this rich heritage for such spurious reasons has serious implications, not only for local residents, but also for many musicians whose livelihoods depend on these performances.
If you went to support the drive to reinstate these monthly music events at the Camel Rock please sign this petition supporting them. If you wish to put in your street address please do so after your surname. If the residents of Scarborough do show they care about the continuation of the music events by signing this petition to demonstrate their feelings, then the City Council will have to take account of their wishes.
How it will be delivered
This petition is being organised on behalf of, endorsed by, Alison Geduldt who organises the music events and has played an important role in promoting local South African music. She will deliver the petition to the relevant City personnel.
